Year ago: Chain of Rocks Bridge

Digging through old photo, I found these from Nate Papes and I’s trip to the Chain of Rocks Bridge a year ago today. The bridge, built in another era, closed years ago, but carried traffic for Route 66.

The entrance on the Missouri side  was closed, but the bridge can still be accessed from the Illinois side. The bridge has an odd curve in the middle of it, making it fun to walk but probably difficult to drive.

A lock is secured into the fencing on the side of the bridge.
